Small Group Phonics: Words With Consonant Blends (S-Blends)

In this interactive one-time course, we will focus on blending words with S blends (st, sw, sp, sl, sk, sn, sm) words. We will practice phonemic awareness, blend words, write words, and then play an interactive game at the end of class!

Description

Class Experience

This one time class is for students who can easily blend words with 3 sounds (map, cat, pop, etc).  Since we will be writing, they should have experience forming letters with writing utensils.  

 The class will be broken down into three major areas; word segmenting (breaking down the words into individual sounds), word writing, and reading words with S-blends (st, sw, sp, sn, sm, sk, sl).

The class will proceed as follows: 

1. Review all 26 letter sounds (short sounds video)

Blending CCVC words

Whiteboard and Dry Erase Marker 
OR
Blank paper and Marker

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
