This class is for guitarists who have a few basic skills (see below), and who would like to study in a small group setting (3-4 students). This class size enables students to get personalized help from the teacher and also get to know their fellow learners using weekly teacher-led icebreaker activities. We will work through a teacher-created slide presentation during class, and students will be given class notes to review and practice in between classes. Each week, we will practice new...
Students will continue to develop their guitar skills as they learn new songs each week to add to their repertoire. Students will be able to show weekly progress in learning chords, notes, and strum patterns.
Students will receive weekly practice assignments and materials from the teacher, and are encouraged to learn at their own pace.
Students will need their own 6-string or (12-string) guitar with all strings functioning. Can be a classical, acoustic, or electric model. Younger students should be playing on an instrument that is scaled down (not full/adult sized) so that the size is manageable. I recommend classical style guitars for all beginning players, as the nylon strings are much easier on their fingers. Many inexpensive starter instruments can be found online; message me if you would like assistance in selecting one, and I am happy to help you find the right guitar for your learner.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessments will be provided via individual communication with learners and parents.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
