Class Experience
This is the third class of my French for Beginners series! Learners are NOT required to complete the other two levels prior to taking this course. The course will be taught primarily in English, but at times I will be speaking French (of course!) to help students learn the language. I often give directions in both languages to make sure the content is understood by all learners. What will be taught? I have a college certificate in Human Services, a Bachelor of Art, and am just about to complete my Bachelor of Education. The only item in this class that may be sensitive to some learners would be the section about family. With my experience and education I am certain that I can make this a positive learning experience for all. Like I said above, please let me know how I can be accommodating if needed.
There is no "assigned" homework; however, if a learner is unable to complete both the sentences and the drawing/ photo during class time, I expect it to be completed before the next class. I would not want a learner to stress the day before presentations trying to whip up a whole project! I also expect that each learner has practiced their presentation before presentation day.
****The template for this project can be found on our classroom's page!! You need this for every class. Please have it printed out and keep it in a safe place.**** - Pencil - Eraser - Something to colour with (markers, crayons, pencil crayons) OR physical photos - If using physical photos you will need scissors and glue to put it on your sheet - Notebook (optional)
Each page of their project will be graded out of 4 using this criteria: - Creativity - Complete sentences in French - Drawing or picture relevant to the page's topic was included - The page was presented to the class *A student may earn a 4+ on a page if all the elements from the list above are present, AND they added something that was above and beyond. *If a student is absent on presentation day we will privately discuss how we will go about earning the point for presenting. *Within 7 days of the course ending, I will send you a breakdown of the learner's final marks using Outschool's conversation feature.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
There is a page all about family. If learners want to include special people who are family figures this is welcomed and encouraged! We will be limiting our list of family members to 4 but they may add more after class on their own time. This will help the class run on time. If family is a sensitive topic for your child please let me know how I can adjust this activity for them to ensure this is a positive experience.
