This class will cover intermediate topics of percussion/drumming including but not limited to: -Style -Intermediate Techniques -Popular Drum Literature -Transcriptions of Popular Songs -Intermediate Rhythms Each Class we will warm up, review the previously assigned material, and learn new material to practice for class. My goal for this class is not to teach students how to hold the sticks or read basic rhythms, but to expand upon the foundation that has already been built. My teaching involves students interacting with each other in discussion, listening to various styles of music, and performing assigned material each class to show progress. I will always demonstrate the music I give to the students so they have it available during the week. The student must already know how to: -Read basic rhythms -Count Rhythms -Hold the stick -Know the parts of a drum set -Set up a drum set -Play a basic Rock Drum Groove
Learning Goals
The student will improve upon the foundations of drumming that have already been build by engaging in Aural, Visual, and Kinesthetic exercises and methods of learning. The student will learn new rhythms, new techniques, and further their knowledge as a drummer to reach more advanced levels of performance.
