Class Experience

Welcome to preschool!
In the past, I have had many classes where I open them up to lots of learners. I find with the younger students it is hard to connect with them and get to know them in larger class sizes. That is why I have created this class to be a max of 8 learners. I think this is a good number for students to still get to socialize but also small enough that they are able to get to know everyone. Providing some predictability of who to expect in class can be comforting to young children who are also adjusting to doing so much online.

In this full-time preschool class, I will provide all the printouts needed for this class. We will cover colors, shapes, numbers, letter recognition, letter and number tracing, basic math, art, storytime, show and tell, and so much more. We will have themes to follow seasons and holidays and also incorporate art and science. We will also be deep-diving into some topics like having a week-long topic on dinosaurs, rainbows, or space. If your child cannot attend every class this is not a problem as you will have the material to work with them at home. Attending as many classes as possible is encouraged though. Learners will be given extra materials when needed to practice at home such as flashcard printables, extra coloring pages, etc.
I will send parents the printouts for the week on the Sunday prior to class or when a learner enrolls if it is mid-week. Learners may need something to color with (colored pencils, crayons, markers, etc.), scissors, pencils, watercolor paints, play-doh (3+ colors), math manipulatives, and a glue stick. Not all items will be needed in each class but having these items on hand will be helpful. Occasionally learners will need additional items for a project but I will give a week's notice if additional items will be needed. This is a full preschool curriculum and a lot of learning will be done but we will also have a lot of fun with hands-on learning.
Example schedule
-Greetings and weatherboard where we go over what day/month/season it is and the weather. Each week we have one classroom helper who will do the board with me at the end of their week they then get to pick a new classroom helper for the following week. This helps learners to build relationships with each other. I will have the large weatherboard and then each learner will have one to be laminated at home that they can use each day.
-Learning activity for the day. This could be a number or letter tracing page, a math sheet we do together, math word problems, etc.
-Making Play-doh shapes
-Storytime
-Closing cycle where we all say goodbye and discuss anything coming up for the next class.

Please note that this is an example day and they will not all look like this. Some days we will have a bigger project we work on the entire class, some days might have more worksheets, somedays might have no worksheets. I want this to be a play where your child is learning everything they need to but also a place where they make friends and have a great time.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to message me. I look forward to getting to know your learners and having a great class with them.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone, I'm Britney! I am so glad you popped into my bio to learn more about me.
I teach 2 main topics on Outschool. The first one being classes about horses, the other about YouTube. I would love the opportunity to share why I choose these very different topics.

Why teach about horses?
Well first off who doesn't love horses? am I right? What is not to love about these wonderful and powerful animals?
I have been riding since I was about 9 years old so over 20 years now. I ride mostly English although I did have a brief spot on the high school rodeo team where I competed in barrel racing. Even though I loved barrel racing my passion was in jumping. I competed in jumping all over the United States for over 10 years. I have run my own lesson and training program for multiple years as well as trained with some of the best equestrians in the US including Bob McDonald who is a famous trainer and husband of Olympian dressage rider Debbie McDonald. To say the least I have an incredible passion for horses and love teaching other horse-loving kids all about horses as well.

So why teach about YouTube?
I have a YouTube channel with over 10K subscribers and have learned so much along the way. YouTube is an ever-changing platform but has not slowed down in growth. I love to study how the YouTube algorithms work and how to get great views on your videos. I have learned so much about how to have a successful channel and like to be able to benefit your aspiring YouTubers by providing the knowledge all in one place. I offer two main YouTube classes. A "crash course" where we go over everything and a social/support group in an ongoing class format where they can come together to meet other like-minded creators. Video creation and YouTube are a big passion of mine and I think it's wonderful to support like-minded children on their YouTube journey.

My teaching style:
I am a fun and upbeat teacher with a hand on conversation-based learning style. I like to include my students in every aspect of the teaching process whether it be asking questions or encouraging communication between my learners. I like to make sure my students are engaged and excited to take my classes. I want every class to be fun as well as an awesome learning experience.

Some fun facts about me:
I am the mother of 3 wonderful children ages 9, 12, and 14.
I live in Boise, ID but am originally from the Bay Area in Ca. and lived in Jackson Hole, WY for 10 years in between.
I love the ocean.
I have 4 younger siblings one of which is 20 years younger than me.
I have 1 dog and 3 bunnies.

If anyone has any questions for me I am happy to respond and I would love to see one of your learners in my classes.
