In this weekly class, students will read/watch animated story books called Slumberkins. These books are educational tools to promote positive life skills in young children. Class structure - Greetings and introductions to the story - Read/watch animated storybook on vooks - Chit chat about the book, we'll also do a story comprehension activity together. -Pause & Ponder - at different time stamps of the story video in the storybook and discuss the story. The goal is build reading comprehension with the help of listening comprehension via these animated stories packed with live, moving characters, musicals and read along text so that they will be exposed to the written word too but for the most part it is to enjoy reading these fantastic books that will also instil positive life skills.
- Small Whiteboard with marker or pencil and paper. - one page handouts for optional printing will be posted in the classroom for activities.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
