Class Experience

In this one-time drawing class, learn to draw an adorable sloth animal.

Prepare for class:
Come to class with pencil, paper, eraser, and coloring utensils.

What to expect:
1. Welcome
Begin class with a fun welcome. Get to know all the students in class as each student shares something you love about sloths!

2. Drawing
Step by step instruction on how to draw a sloth. Students will be encouraged (but not required) to chat as they draw. The teacher will share fun sloth facts during the lesson.

3. Coloring
Step by step coloring instruction will bring the drawings to life! The teacher will check in with each student to assess progress. Coloring is also optional. Students who choose not to color will be given an alternative drawing challenge.

4. Show and Tell
When you finish your drawing, students will be allowed to show their work. Students are not required to share their drawings. Sharing will be volunteer only.

5. Goodbye
Say goodbye to everyone and get a drawing challenge. I will challenge you to add to your drawing while we are away from class. You can share your work with us by posting it to our classroom page.

This class is designed for the beginning artist. The goal of this class is to have fun drawing with friends! The instruction will be given at the learner's pace and students will signal the teacher they are ready to move on with the lesson by making animal faces.

Tracing sheets will be provided for students wanting to trace the drawing as we go. Tracing is a great way to build confidence in drawing skills. You can also use the tracing sheets as a reference.

Parental Guidance
Students are not required to talk during this class. Sharing and verbal participation are optional. Young artists often have their own ideas of how they want their drawing to look. Students will be encouraged to express their creativity during class and are welcome to draw as they like. Children will be unmuted during the Zoom lesson. However, if background noise causes distraction during the lesson, the instructor will mute students as needed. Please be sure your child is familiar with the Zoom features and can use the mute/unmute button to speak during class if necessary. There will be no corrections or critique given of artwork during the lesson. However, students are free to ask questions or request help as needed. Lessons will begin promptly at the designated start time. Please plan to log-in early to avoid technology issues. In order to provide good teaching practices, your instructor will not be able to aide individual students to technology concerns. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Mrs.Laura and I am a dance teacher, full-time homeschool mom, and artist. I have a college degree in Sociology and Education. And I was trained classically in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Modern and Tap for over 14 years. I've worked over the last 10 years as a dance teacher, and my specialty is in teaching Ballet and Pointe. I believe that Ballet is the foundation to all dance styles and I have a knack for making it fun and enjoyable. With my background in Education, my unique teaching approach focuses on breaking down dance steps so they are easier to learn. I want my students to understand proper technique and execution, but I also want things to be exciting and fun! So, all my classes are filled with lots of social/emotional encouragement and my lighthearted approach to learning. When I'm not teaching, you can find me with my nose in a book. My favorite foods are pizza and birthday cake. And... I am currently learning how to play the drums! So you can laugh the rest of the day about this silly homeschool mom sitting in her house with drumsticks! Never be afraid to try something new!!
