Class Experience
In this 5 day summer camp, students will develop confidence in their writing and speaking skills by learning the basics of slam poetry. Slam poetry is a unique form of poetry. Much like an poem, a slam poem gives the writer an outlet to express themselves. Slam poetry is unique in that it is meant to be heard and performed! Students will learn how to create and deliver a powerful slam poem while developing the confidence to do so.
As a teacher for seven years, I am no stranger to making poetry engaging and fun for all learners! Whether the learner is a reluctant writer or a seasoned poet, slam poetry finds a spot in the heart of every student with my fun and interactive approach!
Students will be required to work on writing their own poem and practicing delivery outside of class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will participate in a variety of questioning, quizzes, review games, and discussion.
4 hours 10 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
