Skip Count by 2, 5 & 10 on a Hundred's Chart

Students will use a hundred's chart to practice skip counting by 2, 5, and 10. They will use colors to help code their chart to make skip counting easier and to help identify patterns in the numbers.

Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
During this class students use visual aids to learn to skip count by 2, 5, and 10. These skills are useful for addition and multiplication. Each student will need to print 4 copies of the hundreds chart for class. Students will visually see how we can count by 2, 5, & 10. Students will use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to shade in numbers to help visualize the patterns of skip-counting. We will discuss real life scenarios when we might want to do this (counting coins or dollars). If time allows, students will practice skip counting backward as well.

Learning Goals

Students will be able to skip count by 2, 5, and 10.

Hi, I specialize in teaching reading. It is my passion to introduce students to books and develop a love for reading in kids of all ages. I have a masters degree in education from Columbia University's Teachers College and a special education certificate in special education from Brooklyn College in New York City. I have worked as a peer tutor, as a test prep tutor, and as an Orton-Gillingham tutor, helping students overcome various reading difficulties to achieve their goals. I also worked as a reading teacher and a special education teacher at a title 1 charter school in NYC. I believe that every child has the potential to become an avid reader, we just have to ignite their passion and build their skills in an individualized way. I recently moved from NYC to live near the ocean. My hobbies include going to the beach, traveling, playing tennis, and or course READING!
