US Grade 9 - 12
This is a 1-day introductory level class. No prior anatomy or science experience is required. This class is also available as part of an ongoing series of classes: “All Systems Go! An Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology" Learners will join in on an interactive lecture using Nearpod.com. Topics covered will include the function of the integumentary system, layers of skin, the different glands within the skin, skin pigments, anatomy of hair and anatomy of nails. We will have an opportunity to discuss clinical cases as it relates to dermatology. An optional study guide will be available as a graded homework assignment. 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 * As per Outschool policy, 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘤𝘬-𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘸𝘦𝘣𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘴. I encourage webcams to stay on during class, but it is not mandatory. * Learners who miss a class have access to class material and recordings or can opt to transfer to a different section. Cancellations can be made up to when class begins and are entitled to a full refund. * Classes will not be canceled due to low enrollment. If a learner misses a class and is the only one enrolled, no recording will be available. Instead, you will be contacted to transfer to a different section. * In the unlikely event that I need to cancel a class due to technical issues, I will notify you to reschedule or issue a refund.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
There will be a short video depicting a live surgical suturing procedure that is graphic in nature. Clinical cases in dermatology will include images of wounds and infections.
