What will be taught? This class will go over: background information for Ray Bradbury; what was happening during Ray Bradbury's time period; how the rise of television use affected his writing of the novel; big characters/ themes/ symbols/ motifs to look for while reading. Class will end with an examination of Norman Rockwell's "The Roof Antenna" found in public domain here: https://www.saturdayeveningpost.com/wp-content/uploads/satevepost/ROCKWELL_9491105_nocallout-500x548.jpg 
What topics will you cover? This intro course will cover some controversial topics such as the rise of communism (which was one of the reasons Bradbury wrote the book); burning and banning of books; World War I; fear of technology.

WARM UP: What do you know already? 
Lecture: background information about the novel including all topics listed above.
Brief class discussion: What do you want to know? 
Art examination: Norman Rockwell's "The Roof Antenna"
