Class Experience

In this weekly, ongoing class learners will have fun working through art and drawing exercises to get them using their sketchbook with more frequency and confidence. Using a sketchbook regularly, as a growing artist, provides a space for experimentation and recording progress.

This class is great for any student who wants to grow their creativity and skill as an artist. Each week we work in our sketchbooks recording our ideas in a variety of art and drawing topics. The topics for class will include: skill-based drawing (such as drawing a light object in a dark environment), people, animal, food, objects, nature, originality, and open-ended themes (using song lyrics to inspire a drawing).

The following items are encouraged for students to have on hand. However, each item will not be needed for each class. It will be up to the student's discretion to decide which tools they feel will accomplish the task and scope of the weekly topic.

Sketchbook / Drawing Pad - required
Pencils
Pens
Markers
Color Pencils
Paints
Pastels
Ruler
Scissors
Scrap Paper

The order of topic areas will be as follows:

Week 1: Skill-Based Drawing - 3/30/2021
Week 2: Food - 4/6/2021
Week 3: Animals / 4/20/2021
Week 4: Objects - 4/27/2021
Week 5: Skill-Based Drawing - 5/4/2021
Week 6: People - 5/11/2021
Week 7: Creativity Originality - 5/18/2021
Week 8: Open-Ended Theme - 5/25/2021

As an educator, I believe in positively supporting learners, I encourage laughter in the classroom and relating academic material to topics that interest them.

As an artist, I have experience in a variety of artistic fields. I have a background in coding and web design. Most recently, I've ran a successful photography business for four years, while also designing and selling stickers on Etsy. I enjoy all art mediums and spend much of my free time exploring ways of expressing myself with watercolors, pencil/paper, digital design and traditional painting.
