Class Experience

Artists will meet weekly to fill their sketchbooks with step-by-step illustrations and drawings. In these demonstrations I will discuss important drawing concepts. In each class students will be introduced to new topics in a bite size way as we apply it to our drawings. We will work with graphite pencils, pens and color pencils. In this ongoing club we will explore illustrations to subject study and drawing challenges to fill our sketchbooks. This is a great way to improve drawing skills. Students can jump in at anytime of the year. This class does not build on itself. I will keep worksheets and pdfs on student dashboards for any student that wants extra practice or review on concepts or techniques.

I will have a camera set on my sketchbook for demonstration. I will check in on each artist's work throughout the demonstration. Students will be exploring different media and subjects. We will dive into subject study from exploring a subject in multiple angles to different movements. There will be themed step by step illustrations and monthly drawing challenges spread out through out the year. I like to keep the weekly topics aligned with seasons and events.

Work of Art:
Dana Ventura is a versatile artist with an expertise in drawing with graphite and ink. Her work ties realism, storybook illustration, and surrealism together. This alone makes her work completely unique. Her work is inspired by multicultural topics and influences. As a cultured Latina raised in California, she creates detailed works that are influenced by culture, different belief systems and stories of the heritages that surrounds her. She is unfazed by exploring emotions in her work creating powerful pieces. Her pieces draw the viewer in with the amount of detail and symbolization captivating the viewer for hours. Her work is inspired by the books she reads, the conversations she has with loved ones around her and different topics that are stirring around the world. She explores the depth of wisdom, emotions, knowledge and beliefs to present it all on paper in an intricately beautiful way.
