Sketch & Scribble Art Class: How to Draw a Face!
In this one-time art class, students will be taught how to draw realistic faces through examining the anatomy of the face, drawing different facial expressions, developing an understanding of shading and exploring perspectives & angles.

This lesson will teach learners how to draw the human face. To accomplish this, students will learn about: 📏 Proportions and shapes 👁️Facial features 😮 Expressions ✏️ Shading & highlighting This class follows a tutorial format 🎥 where I will demonstrate each step clearly on video. As this is a one-time self-paced class, learners have the option to pause ⏸️ the video at any point. Along with this pre-recorded video footage, learners will also find close-up shots showcasing finer details (e.g. how to draw individual hair strands or various blending or shading techniques). Throughout the video, learners can expect to find additional graphics to support them in their understanding of specific concepts and techniques.💡 You can find additional resources, from reference photos to links to YouTube clips and additional art activities, on the classroom page. 🎨 📩 Progress photos and completed artwork can be submitted through the Outschool messaging system and I am more than happy to provide feedback and/or constructive criticism!
Learning Goals
Learners will...
1. Understand Facial Proportions: Students will learn the basic proportions of the human face, including the placement of eyes, nose, mouth, and ears.
2. Recognise Facial Features: Students will identify and understand the distinct shapes and characteristics of each facial feature.
3. Develop Basic Sketching Techniques: Students will practice using simple lines and shapes to outline a face.
4. Use Shading and Texture: Students will explore basic shading techniques to add depth and dimension to their drawings.
