Class Experience

I have taught art and drama at the middle school level and worked with adult on professional topics for many years. I have found using a creative topic such as drawing or performing is an excellent way to build overall life-skills. I like to build confidence in my students by finding their own creative expression and boosting their skills.
No homework, but students will be encouraged to continue practicing after the session.
Blank paper and a regular #2 pencil. (Sketch book, copy paper - anything will work - just needs to be blank on one side so they can fill it with their sketching!)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This is a great course to learn some basic art skills, but I will also be talking about focus and paying attention to what you are working on. This is a great time/skill to use for mindfulness and focus practice. It isn't mandatory - but encouraging kids to work on their art or creativity for a block of time each day will help build up focus. Start with 5 minutes a day and slowly add time, building up their ability to focus on their work.
