Class Experience

Hello ice skaters! Together we will learn the parts of an ice skate, how to tie our ice skates and what to wear. We will then learn how to fall, get up, go forward, backward, stop, jump and spin on the ice in this one-time ice skate / hockey basics learn to skate class from the comfort of your house. Safety will be covered too.

I'll share some video clips so you can see what the ice and ice rink looks like when you ice skate! There will be time for questions at the end. No previous experience or knowledge of skating is necessary... this class is designed for a beginner or someone who has never ice skated before.

Come ready for lots of movement and fun! There will be a pretend left and a right "ice skates" you'll need to have for class... this can be printed out or drawn on a paper plates (outline of your foot). There will be an additional ice skate picture you can color or decorate outside of class.

Learning Goals

Skaters will know how to go ice skating safely and be familiar with basic skating skills such as falling, marching, gliding, jumping, and spinning as well as know a few parts of the skate, how to tie their skates and what to wear.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
For class, you will need an open workout space and a water bottle (if needed) as we will be moving our bodies to learn how to skate! Please print out the pictures of ice skates and the "feet" page. Take the "feet" page and cut on the dotted lines to create two skates and bring them to class. If you prefer you can use paper plates as your ice skates in class. Either option is great. I will also send an ice skate picture to be colored or decorated if the child wants to do so - not required and this will not be done during class time.
