Students will have four weeks to learn basic single stitch techniques culminating in students being able to create their own wash cloths. Students will start by learning how to do basic chain and single crochet stitches and then move on to working at a diagonal, learning to increase and decrease stitches as they work through their final project. It is recommended that students who do not have crochet experience first take my beginning crochet techniques class, but it is not required....
Students will learn to chain, create a base row, single stitch, increase stitches and reduce stitches, as well as how to apply those techniques to create their own diagonal weave wash cloths.
I have over 30 years experience with crocheting and a variety of other fiber arts.
Over the course of four weeks students will practice their stitches and work to create their own diagonal weave wash cloth.
1 skein or ball of worsted weight cotton yarn any color and a crochet hook size G or H. Supplies can be found at any craft store or online.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will post pictures, videos or a brief description of their final project to show that they learned the basic stitches and were able to complete a wash cloth.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parental Guidance is required for the use of sharp objects. Students will be using scissors and needles for this class.
Here is my video for the stitching for the first half of the wash cloth, showing how to increase your stitches, as well as the beginning of the reduction process. https://www.loom.com/share/b67234e581d845478aacf3ed74cdf23e?sharedAppSource=personal_library This video has no sound.
