Welcome to my voice and piano studio! I am an internationally acclaimed, award-winning soprano, ethnomusicologist, music educator, and research scholar. Class experience
I tailor our one-on-one lessons to your musical level and interests. I will also encourage you to explore new genres and repertoire (English, French, German, Italian, and other world languages. You do not need to know these languages; I will work with you on the pronunciation and vocal technique). Hello Outschoolers! As an award-winning, internationally acclaimed musician, research scholar, and educator, I have collaborated with world-renowned performers, writers, and scholars. I have a Ph.D. (Ethnomusicology), M.Mus (Voice Performance), MPhil (Philosophy and religious studies), M.A., and B.A. (English Literature). ATCL and LTCL diplomas (Voice Performance) from Trinity College London. I have more than 30 years of experience as a live and recording artist and I have taught survey courses and applied voice and piano lessons at the studio, conservatory, and university levels for more than two decades. Fun facts about me: My voice has featured on award-winning Bollywood film soundtracks. And as a polyglot, I can speak and understand French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Tamil, and Hindi.
Homework Offered
Are you enrolling for fun? Then just show up and we will play. However, if you want to progress and develop skills, you need to set aside a minimum of 15-30 minutes of daily practice time 4 or 5 times a week to see progress.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Each lesson I will assess your progress informally during the lesson; this may require you to reflect on your own practice during the week, so please keep a journal so we can talk about some of the questions or difficulties that arise during your daily rehearsals.Grades Offered
I will assign songs and repertoire depending on your level of musicianship; I will share resources: PDFs of scores, URLs, tracks as required.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
