Beginner Level
Welcome to singing class! This class will aim to make you feel more comfortable with your singing and teach you about the techniques to achieve it. This is an example of how I will organise our lectures : Lesson 1 : Getting to know your voice, how do you sound? Why do you sound like this? What can we do to make you achieve the sound you'd like? Introduction to yourself. - finding out your vocal range, your style, what you would like to work on Lesson 2 : Vocal exercises, things you need to do before you sing. Healthy habits we will establish for you to reach your full potential. - singing up the scales, different tones, playing along with the piano and reaching the note - breathing exercises, head voice, chest voice - face exercises, understand how our muscles work, around the jaw, the cheekbones, how the larynx moves and how to achieve different kind of sounds depending how you work with it. Lesson 3 : Practise, selection of songs we will cover depending on the genre you prefer, start learning them and applying the techniques we learned so far. - songs that will use belting, head voice - working on harmonies and melodies, how to reach the right pitch and make it sound in tune Lesson 4 : Performance, combining everything we've learned and making sure you use all the tools you know for you to sing at your current potential, without damaging your vocal cords. - you will perform the song as if you had an audience, we will work on the points that need to be worked on, this will help with your confidence Lesson 5 : Theory, learning vocals terms, range, vibrato, new techniques we can include in your singing. - learning how vibrato works, what exercises to do to train it, all the different types of vibrato we can do - learning how sound will come out differently depending on the shape of your mouth - achieving a sound that feels right for you by testing all the different options Lesson 6 : Applying these new techniques whilst carrying on learning some more tips for your progression. Your music knowledge and understanding of your voice should be much more secure by now. Lesson 7 and onwards : Practise and performing, working on projects you'd like to work on, covers, originals, feedback you'd like and maintenance of everything we've learned so far. Your suggestions will always be welcome, this plan is to give you an idea of how I will run our progress, but I'm happy to listen and adapt depending on your needs.
