Students will learn proper breath technique, body posture, how to find a proper pitch, and how to sing with confidence! We begin with vocal and body warm ups, sing a song that the student has prepared ahead of time, and will learn a new song with the teacher. We will cover a few anatomical functions of the voice and breath, and most importantly, have fun!
Students will feel connected to their breath, body, and voice by learning scales, vocal warm ups, and how to connect emotionally to songs. The teacher will provide guidance, positive feedback, and encourage students to challenge themselves, in a judgement free and super fun atmosphere.
As a singing, acting, and yoga teacher, I am focused on making the students as comfortable with their own body and vocal awareness, as possible. The voice should be free, and fun. I have sang with Hilda Harris at Sarah Lawrence College and trained at Circle in the Square Theatre School. I have performed and taught in and around New York City, and now happily teach students ages 4- adult in Northern California!
Students must come to class prepared with a song that they like to sing! If not memorized, the song must have lyrics printed out for them.
Are the students listening? Are the students engaged? Are the students connected to their breath and body and trying new things? It is not how the voice sounds, but how emotionally expressive one can be as they use it!
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
