What's included

10 pre-recorded lessons
10 weeks
of teacher support
1 year access
to the content
Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will spend approximately 30-50 minutes learning per lesson. However, I encourage students to go back and sing along with vocal warm ups and exercises several times a week in order to build vocal flexibility and endurance while increasing their range. Ideally they should be practicing these vocal exercises and their chosen song at least 1 extra hour per week, even if it is broken up into 5 ten minute segments etc. If students would like more material to practice for extra homework, I can provide that as well.
Assessment
Lesson Ten is personalized to them and based upon what I hear in their final project/ performance. This is an assessment that will be encouraging and share everything that they are doing well, and then add in areas that could use more practice.

Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 10
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This 10 part self-paced course was designed to provide independent learners with on demand lessons, resources, and personalized teaching assistance from interaction with me, that will cover the fundamentals of singing, voice science, and how to improve one's vocals through various exercises and more knowledge regarding their own unique voice.

Each lesson will include an introductory video lesson that I have created and then be followed by more links to other free resources that will aid in the student's understanding and their ability to practice of that week's topic.

Students are expected to watch the links, practice, and do all of the assignments. If students do not complete assignments, or respond to my messages I am unable to help tailor the course more for them personally, and provide what could be valuable feedback. If an extension is needed to provide more time to complete the final project ( detailed below ) than I can grant a two week extension, just let me know.

My goal in this course is not only to be a teacher they can reach out to, and receive feedback from, but to also be a facilitator who guides students to other professional resources that may additionally aide them in their music journey. At anytime within the ten weeks enrolled students can write and ask questions, or ask for more vocal exercise videos on a certain topic etc... Also, though most assignments are written based and their responses will help me understand what areas they may or may not need more assistance with, if at anytime students want to send an audio clip or short video of them attempting a vocal exercise or etc to know if they're doing it correctly, they are welcome to do that and I recommend it especially if a student is feeling uncomfortable with certain notes or sound etc.

Once we approach week 9, the student is assigned a final project. This final project is a recording of them singing a full song of their choice, and applying everything they've learned from the prior 8 lessons in their performance. After I view the performance, lesson ten will be where I will provide video feedback personal to them full of encouraging advice and suggestions for them as they continue on their singing journey. They will also receive a PDF written vocal plan.
Learning Goals
Students will learn basic vocal anatomy, how the voice functions, musical terminology, vocal exercises, vocal technique, and how to apply music concepts to various songs.

Supply List
Students only need access to the internet and a place they feel comfortable singing vocal exercises.

I will however include some optional worksheets that students are encouraged to fill out should they have access to a printer.

Also, I recommend that they download the Musicnotes app and the song of their choice mid-way through the course but it is optional. Purchasing the sheet music with the accompaniment track to their song would greatly aid them and would cost between $1.99-$5.99 depending no the song. It is not required, but would help and I would be happy to explain more as to why it would be a great addition for those interested.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Bachelor's Degree in Music from Mount Vernon Nazarene University
I am a certified voice and music teacher with a bachelor's degree in music who has been singing (professionally) for nearly 25 years, and teaching music and voice for over 15 years.

It all started at the age of 13 when I began training in the Bel Canto method with Louise Savage, the founder of the Fine Arts Association school in Willoughby Ohio. I studied with her weekly for five full years, during which I recorded 3 CDs and began to sing publicly for several professional and regional events, choirs, and programs. This was the beginning of my musical career.

Since that time, I have continued diverse vocal training with multiple amazing vocal coaches, have had the opportunity to sing in several professional choirs, musical theater productions, and special events in multiple states across the US and have earned a bachelor’s degree in music, with a focus in voice.

In addition to holding a degree music, I have also received the Voice Teacher Certification from New York Vocal Coaching after training 50 hours with renowned founder Justin Stoney.

I am a Florida certified music teacher and have been teaching music and voice both publicly and privately for over 15 years in addition to performing at a professional level within the state. I have been asked to sing the National Anthem 3 times at the Tampa Bay Ray's stadium for a MLB game, have been in productions at both Manatee and Sarasota Players Theaters, performed with the Children's Theater of Michigan, was a member of Sarasota's professional Choral Artists for 10 concerts, and in 2021 sang in several Epcot's Candlelight Processional shows at Walt Disney World.

In addition to those solo endeavors, my husband and I, known as "The Martin Duo" have sung for restaurants, theaters, weddings, and exclusive community yacht and country club events. We are most well-known for our Musical Theater and Show-tune tribute shows alongside of being popular Christmas Carolers throughout the state. We also work as voice-over artists for Worldbook where we can be heard voicing several characters for children's graphic novel audiobooks.

Currently I also work as a voice instructor at one of Nord Angelia's international school campuses. As a voice instructor I can teach various styles of music and how to manipulate the body to produce differing sounds needed for each genre. However, I specialize in coaching full voice use for Musical Theater, Jazz, Classical Cross-over, and Classical styles.

*As a Florida FES-UA/EO and Step Up PEP eligible music elective teacher, my courses are reimbursable for those seeking to utilize their funds for a state approved music elective*
