This course will go over strategies for solving different types of math word problems (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and money) using the Singapore way. The strategies that are taught are ones they can use in their own classroom as well. This method takes concrete concepts to help students understand abstract. This approach especially helps my students with autism and learning disabilities in the classroom. They will be taught a mnemonic for remembering the steps for solving word problems. I believe in using multi-sensory learning techniques to reach all learners. We will play digital games and use real life math word problems to make learning fun!
