Welcome to Singapore Math Explorers: Adventures in Third Grade Mathematics! Join us for an exciting journey through the fascinating world of mathematics inspired by the renowned Singapore Math curriculum. In this dynamic Outschool class, third-grade students will embark on a comprehensive exploration of mathematical concepts and problem-solving strategies that will deepen their understanding and mastery of mathematics. Throughout this course, students will: Master Multiplication and Division: Delve into the world of multiplication and division with confidence! Students will develop fluency in multiplication and division facts, explore strategies for solving multi-digit multiplication and division problems, and apply their skills to solve real-world mathematical challenges. Explore Fractions and Decimals: Dive into the realm of fractions and decimals as we uncover their relationships and applications. Students will learn to represent and compare fractions and decimals, add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators, and understand the concept of equivalent fractions. Enhance Problem-Solving Skills: Singapore Math is renowned for its emphasis on problem-solving skills. Students will tackle a variety of challenging mathematical problems using a systematic approach, including drawing diagrams, making models, and applying heuristic techniques to develop creative solutions. Investigate Geometry and Measurement: Unlock the mysteries of geometry and measurement as we explore shapes, angles, area, perimeter, and more. Students will identify and classify two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes, measure angles, and solve measurement problems using standard units. Data Analysis and Probability: Dive into the world of data analysis and probability as we collect, organize, and interpret data using graphs and charts. Students will learn to draw conclusions from data and explore basic concepts of probability through engaging activities and real-life examples. Cultivate Critical Thinking Skills: Foster critical thinking and mathematical reasoning skills through engaging discussions, problem-solving challenges, and exploratory activities. Students will learn to analyze mathematical situations, make conjectures, and justify their reasoning. Build Mathematical Fluency: Through regular practice and reinforcement, students will develop fluency in mathematical procedures and algorithms, enabling them to solve problems efficiently and accurately. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am Dr. Wang! I have a Ph.D. degree in Aeronautical Engineering from a top school in the United States. I have 10+ years of experience teaching classes to college students and high school students. I enjoy teaching STEM subjects to students of all ages. I especially focus on two subjects: Math and Physics. Class topics range from AP Physics C and Calculus BC to Honor Physics and Algebra. I teach with a lot of visual cues and graphing examples because I think those are always extremely helpful for students to understand different concepts. I am a super soccer fan. Nice to meet you all!
