Singapore Math 2B

Students in Singapore Math Level 2A will be taught number work through 1000. Students will learn addition and subtraction with up to 3 digit numbers, multiplication tables for numbers 2 and 3. Students will also be introduced to greater than, less than, weight, length, and written number words. This course will cover 62 worksheets and exercises to reinforce our lessons, games and activities covered during class. 

This course will be a lecture format with interaction between your student, the teacher and their peers in class. Students will use interactive games, activities and samples to practice lessons during each class period. Students will also work through sample problems with new math concepts with the teacher during each class session. Student will be provided supplemental worksheets (included in the cost of class) for each week day that students are not in class. These worksheets are optional but they are the best way to ensure that your child remains strong in understanding course work. 

The class structure will contain:
5 mins-introduction
10 mins - new concept explanation 
15 mins - example problems and practice /questions
15 mins - interactive game involving new concept
10 mins - concept review from previous weeks/interactive activity between students
5 mins- questions/class dismissal/homework information

Course Outline By Week:
week 1:
Day 1 - Addition, subtraction, missing numbers, missing numbers in 100s place, large number bonds
Day 2 - subtraction with 100s, weight, story problems with subtraction/missing numbers

week 2:
Day 1 -  multiplication with 4s/ division with 4s
Day 2 - story problems, multiplication with money, multiplication with 5s, story problems with money

week 3:
Day 1 -division with 20s and 10s,multiply or divide, story problems
Day 2 - money, reading money, adding/subtracting with decimals and money, reading money words, cents to dollars

week 4:
Day 1 - adding and subtracting with decimals, dollars and change addition and subtraction, story problems with complex money amounts
Day 2 -multiplication review, fractions, making fractions, like and unlike fractions, fraction pairs

week 5:
Day 1 - time, volume with liquid,comparing x and measuring liters/liquid,quarts,gallons, graphing review
Day 2 graphing, shapes, geometry introduction, faces, angles, sides, patterns, shape formation

week 6:
Day 1 - Multiplication review, square units, making figure with square units
Day 2 - division review, story problems, fractions review, final exam
