Class Experience

This is a fun and supportive on-going personalized one-on-one class from a working professional singer who has taught budding artists for the past 15 years. Your student will learn vocal technique, breathing, scales, ear training and lyric interpretation. I will listen for vocal range and style and assist your learner in building up their vocal ability. I have a unique perspective in that I have extensive training and formal education, have taught and coached singers from the beginning level to professional, and am a professional performer and recording artist myself! I have the experience to share that can only be found by doing. I also offer audition prep (both singing and acting). We will start the lesson with gentle warm ups and breathing work and then move on to scales and vocal technique. We will then dive into diction exercises and finish with singing a song of their choice. I absolutely love teaching and watching students grow! It is such a joy to watch confidence and ability increase with each lesson. I'm a firm believer in encouragement being the best tool for growth and will point out strengths and build on what they do best!

Learning Goals

The goal is for my students to grow in confidence and find the voice that is uniquely theirs. We build on that to make the voice strong, healthy, and agile. A well built foundation is essential for future success. I also strive to show the artistry that is involved in performing. I assist in helping the singer understand what they are communicating and how to bring the audience into their story. We do all of this while having fun! I have found in my years of teaching that low pressure does not equal low results-it's the opposite! When the learner is relaxed they are able to access the best technique for singing and have a great time doing it(:

Other Details

Pre-Requisites
No experience necessary. Beginning to advanced and everything in between.
Supply List
It is perfectly acceptable for the student to sing acapella, but If they would like to sing along with an artist while they sing, or use a karaoke track, they can have that ready or I can pull that up for class. I can also play along with them with piano chords if I have the name of the song before class! If they don't have a favorite song they would like to learn to sing, that's ok too. They can pick from suggested songs depending on the style they prefer.
