This is a performance where students are asked to sing in front of their peers in a mini concert setting. In this class, singers will learn fundamental vocal techniques through warm-ups, vocal exercises and, personalized feedback. We will discuss how to maintain healthy vocal habits in order to sound great and avoid injuries. Topics explored in class include belting, range, riffs, breathing, posture and much more. Singers will have access to personalized exercises which they can use after class to improve their performance. The class will begin with some group warm-ups and breathing exercises. Singers will then be asked to sing a song of their choice for a minimum of 1 minute. They will then receive tips on how to perfect their tone, strength and interpretation. Singers may be offered an opportunity to perform a second time to incorporate the new knowledge. This class is a safe space to encourage growth and share the love of music with peers. All singers can learn from others’ performances regardless of their level.
Learning Goals
Singers will improve their knowledge on many aspects of vocal technique and performing arts. They will receive personalized feedback and exercises to improve their preformance and grow as artists.

Supply List
Singers should find a song they wish to present to the group and receive feedback on. They should prepare to sing for 1 minute. The song can be performed a capella (without any accompaniment) or with a backing track. In order to use a backing track, singers will need to prepare a separate device.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Véronique Duguay has been teaching for the past 8 years. She holds a degree in performing arts as a Jazz Singer and is currently completing a BA. In musical education. As a contestant on the 2019 edition of The Voice Canada (La Voix), she has hands-on experience with professional performances, audition preparation and vocal training.
