Class Experience

In this “Sing-Along” style group class, a former Disney World performer and professional singer/actress will teach learners the basic techniques of singing in the stylings of your favorite Disney Princesses. Each lesson will focus on a different introductory singing technique and apply it to beloved songs from Disney movies featuring some of our favorite heroines. Technical skills covered in these lessons include: note articulation, dynamics, lyrics and storytelling, head voice vs. chest voice, rhythm and performance. The lessons use visual cues inspired by the Princess's story to help both pre-readers and developing readers engage with and retain the concepts. Each class will conclude with a karaoke style sing-along of the song of the week.

Please note- While some lyrics and melodies of the songs will be reviewed during class, students should familiarize themselves with the songs prior to the lesson in order to focus on technique during class time.

Lesson One: Princess Tiana- Note Articulation
Students will learn how to the difference between ‘staccato’ and legato” notes and how to use them in songs from “The Princess and the Frog”

Lesson Two: Princess Pocahontas- Dynamics
Students will learn how to use dynamics to be more effective singers to songs from “Pocahontas”.

Lesson Three: Princess Belle- Lyrics and Storytelling
Students will learn about how understanding lyrics can help tell a compelling story when singing using songs from the movie “Beauty and the Beast.”

Lesson Four: Princess Mulan- Head Voice vs. Chest Voice
Students will learn the difference between singing in their head voice and their chest voice and when to use them when singing from “Mulan”.

Lesson Five: Princess Anna- Rhythm
Students will learn how to identify and clap out rhythms while singing songs sung by the character Anna from “Frozen” and “Frozen 2”.

Lesson Six: Princess Elsa- Performance
Students will learn how to apply their singing skills together to create a great performance using songs sung by Elsa in the movies “Frozen” and “Frozen 2”.

This class is a sequel to my “Sing Like a Disney Princess” class. I recommend completing that series prior to taking this one as it builds on foundation skills covered in that course.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! I'm Ambree: cheese enthusiast, world traveler and recent New York transplant. Even though I have a few fancy academic degrees (Master of Public Diplomacy, USC and a Bachelor's in International Cultural Studies, BYUH), my first and favorite passion is the performing arts. My first love was musical theater and at age 18 I fulfilled a lifelong dream of performing at Walt Disney World. As an adult I discovered a love for film and television and spent several years in LA performing and training with some of the best acting and vocal coaches in the biz.

In addition to my performing credits, I am also an accomplished performance coach. I work with students of all ages, but specialize in working with kids and young adults. My acting students have been seen on many television platforms such as Hallmark Channel, Disney Channel as well as in a wide variety of SAG films, regional and national commercials.

I adore kids and have worked as a teacher in a variety of environments (both in person and online) and on a variety of subjects for more than 10 years. I am so excited to be combining all of my passions as a teacher on OutSchool. My philosophy is that a teacher (especially in the performing arts) should encourage all students to feel safe and empowered to be themselves and tailor the material to their own interests and personalities. I aim to create curriculums that are accessible, age appropriate and engage the eyes and ears as well as the heart and mind.
