Beginner Level
This class is a fantastic way for your child to begin their journey into music. We will approach music in a fun and practical way that is great for discovery. No prior knowledge of music is required - all are welcome! This class is interactive and will include lots of singing and activities to introduce learners to different elements of music. Each week is different and students can join in at any point. The learning objections of this class include the following: sing, play, listen, and movement. The class is structured as 25 minutes of learning and discovery and 5 minutes of connection time where learners can ask questions, share a song, an instrument, or a toy with the rest of the class. If students have instruments at home, they are encouraged to bring it to class to share or play during connection time. Each class will include singing and clapping and some small movements like standing up or waving their arms or nodding their head. We will listen to a song each class from a variety of different styles (pop, jazz, classical, etc.) A space to move is not required - tiny living spaces are acceptable. Schedule: Week 1: Rhythm: clapping and counting rhythms, drumming Week 2: Musical alphabet: learning the musical alphabet & Instruments: exploration of different instruments Week 3: Dynamics: loudness and softness of music Week 4: Fun with drumming and rhythm: learning about the quarter note Week 5: Melody: listening to and hearing melodies, singing melodies; high and low sounds Miss Brooke is very patient and is passionate about teaching music to her students.
