Class Experience

Get ready for the Fourth of July in this fun sing-a-long! We'll sing and learn the history behind classic American patriotic songs. Songs including "You're a Grand Old Flag", "America the Beautiful", "My Country Tis of Thee", and "The Star-Spangled Banner". Students will be given music and lyrics before class and given the opportunity to sing as a group and individually. This course is designed for students to feel comfortable performing these songs for the holiday. No previous singing experience required. My classes are conducted in a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment with respect to the American musical literature.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to sing with appropriate vocal technique, diction, and breath support. Students will learn effective performance skills for the stage and screen. Students will learn melody, rhythm, and lyrics to iconic American songs and the history behind the song composition.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Doctoral Degree in Education from St. Thomas University
I love teaching private lessons! I specialize in voice, piano, and songwriting from beginner to advances in classical, jazz, musical theatre, and contemporary music. I like to start each private lesson off with warm-ups and theory and then continue working through the lesson on repertoire that is appropriate for the student. I am especially good with sight-reading as well as preparing students for high school performing arts programs, summer camps, summerstock, and college auditions. I try to be positive in my teaching, but also constructive; to really help students become the best musicians they can be. Whether they are pursuing music and theater professionally or as a hobby. I want to provide my students with quality music lessons, just as I received quality music lessons growing up! I have ten years of experience teaching online and in private, parochial, charter, and public school settings primarily in urban environments and underserved communities. Currently, I serve as the Director of Choir and Musical Theatre at St. Thomas University, in Miami, FL. As a performer, my favorite performances include touring with Disney Live!, Nickelodeon at Sea, Carnival Cruiselines, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
