Beginner - Intermediate Level
This class is beginner friendly, no experience needed - just enthusiasm! Students will learn how to sing, dance, and act. We will learn age appropriate songs that they can perform for friends and family - or alone in front of the mirror, whatever they are most comfortable with! There will be opportunities for students to perform for each other during class but is in no way required. We will have fun learning together in a lighthearted, supportive environment. We will focus on fundamentals of musical theater: movement and dance, singing techniques and exercises, acting basics, and theater games. This is an ongoing class so students can join or cancel at anytime. Class Overview Week 1: Name Games, Musical Theater Overview Week 2: Vocal/Physical Warm Ups, Theater Games Week 3 Vocal Techniques, Start Learning Song From Age Appropriate Musical Week 4: Dance Basics, Learning Simple Choreography Week 5: Acting Techniques, Character Development & Scene Study Week 6: Combining Skills: Singing, Dancing, Acting Week 7: Full Routine Rehearsal & Performance Opportunity Week 8: Begin Learning A New Musical Number *Schedule subject to change in order to respond to learners' abilities and pace as needed.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the basics of performing in musical theater: singing, dancing, and acting.
Students will gain confidence in performing alone or in front of others.

Parental Guidance
There is a risk of injury in any physical activity. By registering for this class you are assuming all risks. Please ensure your child has a space that is comfortable to move in. We recommend about 5x5 feet of unobstructed space. Please remind students to stay off the furniture and dance on the floor.
Recommended Attire: socks (with grips) or running shoes (or other foot wear that is suitable for your flooring), something comfortable that is easy to move in. Please have a water bottle nearby for any water breaks.

Thank you for visiting my profile! I have been involved in the performing arts for over 15 years. I have been an elementary general music teacher in the public school system for almost 8 years, in Virginia & in Illinois. I am also a choir director, choreographer, and teacher for all things musical theater. My degree is in Vocal/General Music Education from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
The benefits music offers children are extensive and significant; I truly believe music and theater has the ability to change lives! My goal is to be a part of the positive process in which students receive the social, cognitive, and emotional benefits of singing & performing and as they begin their lifelong love of music.
I want to help my students find their voice, whatever that might mean for them! I will offer my knowledge and expertise at appropriate times and also keep things lighthearted and fun for young learners. No matter where you are in your journey, my goal is to help you find joy and confidence in singing and to give you the skills to be able to nurture, embrace and expand your own unique voice!
