In this class, we will learn to properly sing these popular Broadway songs from Annie. It’s A Hard Knock Life Maybe Tomorrow You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile Students will enjoy singing parts of each song and learning how to not just sing them, but also how to perform them in character. During class time, we will discuss character breakdowns and how to add the proper emotion into each part as it’s sung. Student participation and creativity is a must. No experience required. Just a love for singing and a willingness to learn something new! Day 1- Vocal Warm Ups, Character Assessment for It’s A Hard Knock Life and Tomorrow, Learn parts for the songs Day 2 - Vocal Warm Ups, It’s A Hard Knock Life and Tomorrow performances in characters, Discussion about performances and how to improve Day 3 - Vocal Warm Ups, Character Assessments for Maybe and You’re Never Fully Dressed, Learn the parts for the songs Day 4 - Vocal Warm Ups, Maybe and You’re Never Fully Dressed performances in characters, Discussion about performances and how to improve Day 5 - Vocal Warm Ups, Perform each song again and reassess - Character breakdown revisited - Did anything change from initial assessment and why? How was each student’s perspective expressed in their performances? Closing discussion about what the students have learned and how to use these tools in the future
Learning Goals
Each student will come away with a better knowledge and appreciation of these Broadway classics through listening to and performing them with fellow camp mates!
In each class, we will work on the songs as a group and assign individual parts for each student to sing.
Taking the time to discuss the characters and their unique perspectives gives the students creative insight and freedom to develop their version of the character.

Supply List
Students will need to have access to the instrumental arrangements of the songs covered in the class. Most of the songs are available on YouTube or through ITunes if not included already in our classroom files.
