Class Experience

In this Ongoing class, singers will learn how to own and use their voice in correct pitch, sing any song and make it sound beautiful in their own unique voice.
Singers will also learn a lot more about technique.

WEEK 1: Breathing exercises and vocal warmups.
We will begin with learning breathing techniques and vocal warmups. (this will be done in every class to get students warmed up) each student will choose a song of their choice to sing

WEEK 2: Vocal exploration
We will explore different vocal ranges in this class. This will allow the student to see what ranges best fit their voice.

WEEK 3: Vowel placement.
Here we will learn about tongue position and learn the 5 basic primary vowels used in singing. this technique helps bring clarity in voice and words. It also helps with annunciation.

WEEK 4: Listen to your voice.
What is the difference between head and chest voice? we will learn what it means to sing with the head voice. we will learn further about diaphragmatic breathing

WEEK 5: I've got rhythm!
this week, we will explore the importance of using the uniqueness of your voice to sing in correct pitch and in tune. we will focus on attentive listening to rhythm and sound and our capacity to sing any song in tune with our own voice.

WEEK 6 onwards: Singing in resonance, confidence and correct pitch.
we will practise tongue twisters, pitch matching exercises and vocal agility.

Each learner will have a chance to share a song and do it in their style! I will select some songs to sing throughout this course and also explore the chosen songs by the students. This will be fun and students will also learn from each other.
Whether a student is shy or confident, I will teach and guide them on how to use their unique voice to sing like a star that they are!
As long as one enjoys to sing, no experience needed.

When I create, I do it with the intention of making an impact!

Hello my name is Tina Ford. I am a recording singer, songwriter, and performer. I have a B.A Major in Human Rights and minor in African studies.
I am here to teach singing, tell stories and share the knowledge, incredible tools and tricks I have learned over the years to young students.

I have been singing, composing and writing songs professionally for over 10 years now. I have had the opportunity to travel around the world as a singer and have had the honour of singing at highly attended concerts and major festivals. To name just a few, I have performed both as a soloist and backup vocalist at the Toronto jazz festival, Blankets and Wine Uganda and lu d'afrique festival Montreal. I have also written, recorded and released 2 studio EP projects currently on music platforms.
I have taught vocal lessons for over 6 years to aspiring singers and I take great pride in knowing that some of my students that were once really shy and had little experience in singing are now performing at school and party events, auditioning for musical competitions and really taking the world by storm!

My passion for music started with the folk tales and fables that were told to me when I was young. My most cherished childhood memories are of me sitting around a fire with my cousins and being told stories that always seemed to carry profound messages I took with me.

My passion for story telling started at a very tender age and over time, I learned the art and technique of how to tell and create a story. I have used this skill to incorporate it into my songs.
For 3 Summer camp programs now, I have shared many of these fables and stories to elementary and middle school children at our local community. I keep story narration engaging by use of props, dance, songs, character sounds and also discussion of lessons learned at the end of class.

My teaching style is versatile so no experience needed to join my classes.
