Sing Around the World with Music
This camp is a great opportunity for us to learn about music and sing songs from around the world. The children will be learning to read simple rhythms and melodies while singing and playing instruments.

Description
Class Experience
At the End of this class, Students can say: I can sing and move to music. I can show accented beats. I can sing melodic patterns (mi so la). I can sing and draw melodic patterns (mi so). I can describe the call and response form.
Sharon Frazier-Verpooten has been teaching music for over 35 years. She holds a music teaching credential and a bachelor’s degree in Music Education, as well as a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Throughout her career, Sharon has been a respected leader and trainer in schools and districts throughout the United States. In addition to her work in education, she is also a professional singer who has performed at the Disney Resorts. Sharon has conducted many workshops for teachers and parents in California and in Texas on how to foster creativity and musical expression in children.
Students will be invited to create their own musical instruments between classes and encouraged to sing the songs and share with their families between classes.
If the children would like to make their own instruments between classes, these are the materials that will be used: Sensory Bin Shakers - buttons, perler beads, pony beads, bells, or craft gems, and assorted plastic containers Can Drums - cans, safety can opener that doesn't leave sharp edges, balloons (7" or 9" balloons), rubber bands, scissors, dowels and wooden beads for drumsticks Straw Harmonicas - 6-8 plastic straws, sticky tape, pair of scissors, optional - colored sticker paper
Students will be assessed informally as we participate in the class.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The songs we will be singing are: "Bounce the Ball" "Bound for South Australia" “Eu Morava Na Areia” "Cuckoo" "The Cuckoo in the Heart of the Woods" "Peter Rabbit" "The Other Day" "The Bear Went Over the Mountail" "Galliard Battaglia" "Rasa Sayang" We will be using Music Play Online by Denise Gagne as our resource for music lessons, song lyrics, games, and music backgrounds.
