In this class we will have fun with music and letter sounds. Your learner will also learn the hand sign (ASL) for each letter. This is an ongoing class that will meet twice a week. Two new letters will be introduced in each class until we complete the last letter. The very last class will be for review then each learner will get a certificate of completion. Each class will consist of: -Greeting song with our voices and in sign language This greeting song will be the same every meeting and will become so memorable, your learner will learn the signs to this simple song as well! -Introduce and review the letter for the day and previous letters for their sounds and letter signs -Coloring page as we sing and explore words that begin with that letter (for vowels we will focus on the short vowels a,e,i,o,u) -A goodbye song with our voices and sign language We will review the previous letters each meeting to keep it fresh so your learner will know the entire alphabet in ASL by the end of the course and the letter sounds associated with each letter. Class 1 Letters A & B Class 2 C & D Class 3 E & F Class 4 G& H Class 5 I & J Class 6 K & L Class 7 M & N Class 8 O & P Class 9 Q & R Class 10 S & T Class 11 U & V Class 12 W & X Class 13 Y & Z Class 14 Graduation party, review, and certificate ceremony This class is fun and allows the students to sing the letter sounds while they color and practice the signs. This helps it "stick"! Fun while we learn both phonics and signs. See you in the classroom!

Supply List
Print out the coloring page if you can. Another trick I use when I don't have a printer is to get a sheet of printer paper and hold it up to my screen and trace the content to "create" my coloring page for my children. However you can use blank paper and just have the learner draw as we sing and practice during coloring time. No worries if they don't have a coloring sheet or paper to use.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My mother is deaf and blind and has her own non-profit organization called Sight Hearing Encouragement Program (S.H.E.P.). She wasn't always blind so we depended on her reading our lips. When she lost her sight she taught her children sign language. It's like a modern day Helen Keller story. I like making learning simple signs for young children fun while they learn to motivate them and teach them that sign language is a language too! I use simple signs in my every day life to communicate with my mother. When we don't know how to sign a word, we spell it using the ASL alphabet.
