Class Experience

In this ongoing class, learners will learn how to read, play, and sing solfege focusing on the melodies with C to A on the keyboard. 
We will also extend to learn about elementary use of left hand chords accompaniments. 
Each week we'll build the coordination of the two hands, independence of fingers and develop musicianship by learning how to listen and appreciate others. 

Class rundown:
Learn & practice solfege on major scales
Identify letter names of the notes on piano
Rhythm Review
Learn a song with the above skill
Left hand chords (C, G, F - 2 notes only) - Optional depends on class time

Ms. Karen has been performing and playing in rock and pop bands since high school! She has a classical and pop/rock music background (Music Graduate from University of Toronto, G10 Piano Royal Conservatory of Music and Professional diploma in Vocal Styles from Berklee).
She also has experiences in teaching piano, singing, and music & movement in private settings and music centres. 

Miles Lee holds a Master's degree in Music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor's in Music Education from The Education University of Hong Kong. With ABRSM Grade 8 certificates in violin, piano, and theory, he demonstrates a solid foundation in music theory and performance. Lee has experience leading school classes in competitions and performances, aiming to cultivate students' interest in music through friendly rapport. He is a versatile musician skilled in performance, music analysis, conducting, and score writing. Lee has participated in notable events like the Hong Kong Disney Concert and has undertaken score writing and studio recording projects, showcasing his diverse expertise.

Amber Chan graduated with a BA(Honours) in Music Studies, Grade 8 Piano in ABRSM and Rockschool. She has been a pianist since 2012. With several years of teaching experiences with different studios, teacher Amber is excited to help more children to enjoy music.

Sheila Paton, Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Grade 10 Piano RCM brings over 15 years of music teaching experience, catering to diverse age groups and skill levels. Proficient in online teaching platforms like Zoom, she fosters effective communication and adapts lessons to individual interests and capabilities. Paton excels in motivating students and has experience with special needs learners. Her versatile musical background spans various genres, complemented by training in dance, drama, and musical theatre. Additionally, she actively contributes as a pianist for community events and has participated in numerous choirs, including international tours. Paton's dedication to music education and community involvement shines through her extensive volunteer work.

Shirees Watchel, a seasoned pianist with over 25 years of experience, has participated in numerous local and provincial music festivals and recitals, garnering multiple first-place awards and scholarships. Her academic background includes pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music and minor in psychology, encompassing valuable coursework in child development, music theory, ear training, conducting, music history, and piano performance. With over 16 years of teaching experience, Shirees has successfully instructed students ranging from age 5 to adults, guiding them to achieve excellence in local festivals, recitals, and exams. She shares her passion for music with students through both classical and modern genres, integrating ear training and theory into each lesson.
