Students will love learning American Sign Language using a simple, fun, and consistent routine for each class in which they attend. They will know exactly what to expect each time. This encourages eagerness, stability, flexibility, participation, and joyful interaction among students. Class time: -20 minutes: First, the teacher will begin by introducing the new chapter in the book. *See Supply List section below* (Book is recommended, but not required) Then, we will form these 15-30 new signs in American Sign Language together. As each student properly learns each new word/sign, the teacher will make sure that the student’s hand positions are smooth and accurate. -20 minutes: Next, we will practice 10-12 phrases using our new ASL words. -20 minutes: Lastly, students will enjoy a fun game for review and reinforcement. This produces repetition, mastery, and fluency. *I have seen firsthand the joy that comes from students being able to sign using ASL. Especially, when they finally comprehend what another person is saying/ signing. This is why I love what I teach! Learning and understanding ASL is so much fun!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Do you have a family member or a friend who is hearing-impaired? Would you like to communicate with them? Deaf people want you to talk to them. Are you thinking about becoming an American Sign Language interpreter one day? I can help you get started to develop the skills and confidence needed in this area. Once you learn American Sign Language, maybe you can teach a friend what you've learned! Then you can both talk to each other using your hands. No one will even know what you are saying to each other, unless they know ASL.
I have known American Sign Language for a long time! Twenty years ago, I learned ASL in high school, which allowed me to communicate with the deaf community. Because of this, I created some amazing friendships along the way. I have learned so much! I would love to pass this knowledge on to eager learners who are searching out another language to retain. ASL is also great for developing fine motor skills, mastery in spelling words, and strengthening memorization.
I taught my 3 sons basic signs in American Sign Language when they were babies, so I could understand what they wanted even before they knew how to verbalize it!
I look forward to teaching you American Sign Language too!
