Description
Class Experience
Students will learn and understand how to position their hands for signs involving: Letters Numbers Colors Animals People Around the Home Food and Drink
I have known American Sign Language for years, have deaf friends, am a homeschool mom of 3 boys, and I love American Sign Language. I love teaching American Sign Language to young children. I cannot wait to create a spark of curiosity in my students for this language!
Students will practice the signs they learn each day.
Optional, but recommended: Learn to Sign The Fun Way by Penny Warner https://www.amazon.com/Learn-Sign-Fun-Way-Activities/dp/0761532633/ref=nodl_
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Assessment happens during class, as the teacher is viewing each independent signer. If the student needs help to perform a certain sign the correct way, the teacher will encourage he/she to do so during class time.
5 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Teacher will occasionally post videos, in the classroom section, from YouTube.
