This class is taught in a multi-sensory environment. The objective of these sessions is to promote fluency and phonemic awareness. This class is for any student who is either struggling in reading, is an emergent reader, or needs more reinforcement in both spelling and reading. Each class will focus on a new phonogram or spelling rule. We will also review previously learned sounds/rules. Students will practice reading and spelling each session and learn a new sight word. Each session we will allot a specific time for: • review the previous concept through auditory & visual drills (10 min) • learn a new concept (15 min) • learn new sight word (5 min) • mixed spelling dictations/mixed ratios of previously learned concepts (10 min) • review new learned phonogram/spelling rule/concept and sight word (5 min) Class 1: ed - rained, flooded, stopped/CUPBOARD Class 2: or - doctor/DEBT Class 3: ar - dollar/CLOTHES Class 4: ie - piece/DURING Class 5: ear -earth/VACUUM Class 6: ou - shoulder/FEBRUARY Class 7: ei - vein/TOMORROW Class 8: eigh - eight/HEIGHT THE ABOVE IS A LOOSE SCHEDULE AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE DEPENDING ON THE NEEDS OF THE STUDENTS. The Orton-Gillingham approach has been used since the 1930s and involves a sequential phonics-based system in which the basics of word formation are focused. Students are taught through three learning modalities: visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic. All documents and worksheets will be provided for printing prior to each class. *PARENTS PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO REGISTRATION* Please note that I am NOT always able to check messages from parents during class time. I will do my best to get back to parents as soon as I'm able to. However, I normally teach 6-7 classes per day and my schedule does not permit me to always be available to check the messages. Your understanding is greatly appreciated. :) REFUNDS All my classes operate under the 'LIMITED' refund policy. Learners can withdraw with a refund up to ONE WEEK before class starts, or within 24 hours of purchase. Refunds are NOT given for withdraws outside this window. No shows and/or missed classes (intentionally or not) are NOT entitled to a refund. A recording of the class will be posted in the classroom after the session is completed for your reference. LATE STUDENTS If your child joins a class late, please advise I will do my best to bring the late student up to speed. However, I will not re-teach missed portions of the class. Students will have access to the class recording to view the missed portion of the class. CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS Prior to the class commencing, I will announce my class expectations which include: ~ prior to turning off your camera (if you wish to not have it on), you will need to introduce who you are with the camera ON ~ no using the chatbox for the student to student messages ~ the chat box is meant for students whose audio is not working ~ the chat box is meant for private messages to me if a student wishes not to share with the class ~ absolutely NO drawing and writing on the screen I am teaching on (the student will be reminded of this and after the 2nd offense, they will be asked to leave the class) unless I invite them to answer a question and/or highlight a keyword ~ any disrespectful behaviour will result in the student being asked to leave the class There is NO DISCOUNT issued for siblings and/or the registration of multiple classes.

I am a homeschool mom for the past 12 years to my three (now teenage) children. I have an extensive background in working with students of all levels, specifically children with learning disabilities. My 14-year-old daughter has dyslexia, so I bring a broad perspective not only as a teacher but as a parent.
My passion is to work with all students and help facilitate them in their learning.
