Class Experience

This class is suitable for learners of all levels, though some experience of French and singing will be helpful.
I will greet the class in French and teach the students a simple French Christmas song with actions that are adapted from British Sign Language/Makaton. I will comment on their progress with a 'très bien'.
I am a very enthusiastic teacher. The class will be very interactive and all students should be able to sing the song and do the actions confidently by the end of the class. I have taught this song to pupils in primary and Special School and my classes have performed the song in assemblies and school concerts.
I will finish the class by congratulating them students on their performance and saying goodbye in French.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to sing a simple French Christmas song and do the actions.
They will be able to say hello and goodbye in French and recognise 'très bien' as praise.

Supply List
I will provide a one page hand out after the session, so that students can sing the song with their families and friends afterwards. I have found students pronounce the words more accurately if they do not see the written words before I teach them.
Students should bring enthusiasm and have a drink of water to hand, as we will be singing for most of the lesson.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
I have acquired permission from La Jolie Ronde to use this song for these classes.

Hi and Bonjour from the U.K. Thank you for looking at my profile and considering my classes for your children. I love teaching here on Outschool.

I am Kim Wark. I am English. I was born and brought up in London, but moved to Leeds for university and have lived in Yorkshire ever since.

1) I offer French classes to students of all ages and levels, from 4 year olds to 18 year olds, from Kindergarten to High School level. Classes may include singing, role play, storytelling and games. I have lived and worked in France and spend most school holidays there. I am looking forward to sharing my love of French with your child. When I am in France I teach classes from local places of interest.

2) I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and French and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education to teach French and English at secondary school (ages 11-18) and all subjects at Primary Level (ages 4-11).

I also have further qualifications in Special Educational Needs, including autism.

As part of my degree course I taught English for a year in a French school. I have taught pupils aged 3-18 in schools (state, private and Special Schools), students aged 16+ at Colleges and tutored individual students. Here on Outschool I teach students from around the world.

I home-schooled my younger son, who is autistic and has learning difficulties, for 8 years. I discovered the Montessori method and it worked really well for him. I have used a Montessori approach with pupils, including those with SEND.

3) My philosophy has always been to help children do their very best. I have been privileged to teach some amazing children who have made progress beyond what was predicted for them. I was thrilled to celebrate their success with them.

4) When I was about 5 years old my mum took me to a Horse Show because our late queen, Elizabeth II, was attending. Apparently, I piped up in the loud, clear voice of a 5-year-old, 'Mummy, where is the Queen?' She was standing right in front of me, but I didn't recognise her because she wasn't wearing her crown!!! So embarrassing!!!
