Effective world language instruction merges language and culture. In this class, students will learn new words and phrases en español and about the culture of a different Spanish speaking countries! Novice Spanish speakers will build important skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, and communication! This class provides instruction for young learners to listen, develop their attention span, practice oral communication, read and learn new vocabulary in Spanish, and learn about diverse cultures. This course is for native/near native English speakers to learn basic Spanish words, phrases, vocabulary, and culture via emergent reading instruction. This is not a Spanish immersion class, but rather dual language taught in English and Spanish.
In addition to teaching international students how to read in English, I have had the pleasure of leading books clubs for students to share my enjoyment of literature.
Homework will not be assigned but students are encouraged to discuss what they learned with their families.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
