US Grade 1 - 3
In this one-time class, learners will join me for a class filled with laughs! We learn about nouns, verbs, and adjectives (though song and dance) and learn a tricky reading/spelling pattern (through song, rap, or rhyme) that we put into practice. The sound patterns we will learn and practice are below: Friday, December 13th: soft c We start our class with a good laugh, because we create a silly story (Christmas -themed!) that every leaner in the class gets a chance to contribute to. We will learn a tricky reading/spelling pattern and use that to create (as a class) two silly stories. We will read one story together and write one story together, so every learner is encouraged to bring something to write with, if they want to write the silly story along with me! Christmas themes/words used in this class may include: -Santa -Elves -North Pole -Decorations -Christmas Tree -Candy Canes -Snowman -Reindeer -Lights -Cookies It is likely that our silly stories involve us going to the North Pole, Santa doing something funny, us baking or eating something crazy, and more. These are some themes and story lines you can expect from this class. Join me for some laughs and to share in some Christmas joy!
Learning Goals
Students will learn songs and tricks to help them apply specific reading and spelling patterns to their own reading and writing practice.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Please make sure your child knows how to mute/unmute, since it is sometimes required (for various reasons-computer echo, technical issues, background noise, productive learning environment) for me to mute students at specific times (like when reading as a group, so they can read aloud but only hear my voice guiding them). If they are unable to do this on their own, please be close by to assist if needed. Thank you!
Pre-Requisites
Students taking this class will benefit most if they have a solid knowledge of letters and sounds and the ability to sound out simple words to read and write complete sentences. However, this class is fun for ALL, regardless of skill level!
Supply List
For the full experience, students should have something readily available to write with (ex: paper and pencil/pen/crayon, whiteboard and dry-erase marker, magic doodle board, etc.) to write along with me as we write our sentences. I will include a couple of print-out options for your learner to use in this class if you choose to use them. I recommend having some sort of writing tools for this class, since we will be writing together at the end of class. However, learning will be happening regardless of materials available to you, and I always welcome all learners into my classroom, with or without any materials!

External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
