Description

Class Experience

Participating in read-aloud stories will improve children's reading comprehension skills. Children will be able to answer open-ended questions about the story. They will be able to provide comments about the story and be able to re-tell parts of the story through story boarding. Children will also learn how to listen and take turns.
I am a certified ‘Time to Sign’ ASL instructor with more than 15 years experience, but I don't teach American Sign Language (ASL). I use ASL to teach ‘key word’ signing. My passion is combining the many components of ASL into my curriculum to promote early literacy, expand alphabet knowledge, improve early math skills and enhance social/emotional development of young learners.
My classes are designed to provide engaging sign and play activities that encourage curiosity and exploration. When children are playing, laughing, and smiling, they are learning!
No homework required.
Children are welcome to bring their favorite animal friend or toy to story time. Please provide child with a glue stick or paste to use with activity in class. Note: Learners will receive one or two handouts to help re-tell the story. Parents will receive a Read-Aloud P.E.E.R. Tip Resource. All items may be downloaded upon enrollment.
20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
