Description
Class Experience
This ‘Signing Storytime’ book is designed to provide a fun way for children to develop important language skills through interactive storytelling and sign language. Reading with a child is an important part of developing reading skills and in this class children will have an opportunity to participate in an interactive read-aloud story time. A read-aloud is an instructional practice I use to read text aloud to children. With this method I incorporate sign language, use a variation in...
Participating in read-aloud stories will improve children's reading comprehension skills. Children will be able to answer open-ended questions about the story. They will be able to provide comments about the story and be able to re-tell parts of the story through story boarding. Children will also learn how to listen and take turns.
I am a certified ‘Time to Sign’ ASL instructor with more than 15 years experience, but I don't teach American Sign Language (ASL). I use ASL to teach ‘key word’ signing. My passion is combining the many components of ASL into my curriculum to promote early literacy, expand alphabet knowledge, improve early math skills and enhance social/emotional development of young learners. My classes are designed to provide engaging sign and play activities that encourage curiosity and exploration. When children are playing, laughing, and smiling, they are learning!
No homework required.
