Class Experience

In this ongoing class learners will be introduced to American Sign Language and learn how to sign about a different signing theme each week. In every class we will practice introducing ourselves in ASL, the ASL alphabet, numbers, days of the week and signs for the weather. We will have a different signing theme each week. 
(Week of August 7th)- The signing theme is Colors. We will learn signs for colors and have a time to practice a short conversation signing colors that are our favorite and colors that we are wearing. 
(Week of August 14th)- The signing theme is animals. We will learn signs for animals and have a time to practice a short conversation to socialize in ASL about animals. 
(Week of August 21st)- We will learn signs for feelings. We will play a game to practice the signs for feelings. 
(Week of August 28th)- The signing theme is sports and hobbies. We will learn signs for sports and hobbies. We will have a time to socialize about favorite sports and hobbies in ASL.
(Week if September 4th)- We will learn signs for family and friends. We will practice how to have a conversation about who is in our family and an activity that our family and friends like to do together in ASL. 
 We will practice signing interests, favorites , likes and dislikes. The class will be interactive and include slides to learn vocabulary, a lot of practice, video clips and games. There is no experience or knowledge of ASL required.

I have been studying ASL for over 10 years. I attended a post bachelors program for ASL Interpreter Training and graduated with my certificate in Interpreter Training. I have 3 years experience working in a school as an educational ASL Interpreter. I taught a signing program at an early learning center.
