Students will learn to use American Sign Language to add hand signs to special words in songs and stories each week. This fun and interactive class will be the highlight of your week! Students will add the hand actions to the seasonal topics and themes in our ongoing classes. The topics and themes we cover in this ongoing class will be fun for kids! Colors Numbers Friends Animals Clothes Food Monthly Themes Topics for the First 4 Weeks with our Winter Theme Week of January 19 : Snowflakes - Sign Winter Words that Describe Snow Week of January 26 - Snowmen - Sign Numbers and Winter Clothes Week of February 2 - Mittens - Sign Colors and Numbers Week of February 9 - Food - Sign Snacks for A Winter Picnic Teacher Kay sets a fun and welcoming atmosphere to the classes. Her positive and happy personality encourages students to participate and engage in the songs and stories using sign langauage in class. Students will interact with the teacher and participate in the engaging songs, games and rhymes in class. No ASL background is necessary for taking the class. Come and join us for a great time!

Hi there! I am Kay Wiens, a Licenced Elementary Teacher and a Music and Art Specialist
1) I LOVE teaching music, art, social studies, language arts, American sign language, English, math and science too! I offer a variety of classes such as music, art, sig language and core classes to students of all ages. Currently, I teach preschool and elementary music and art classes in which students explore singing, playing, and moving to music in addition to creating and drawing art. My teaching goal is to inspire students of all ages so they can learn and develop necessary building blocks to succeed in school and life.
2) I have over 25 years of teaching experience . I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with a valid Teacher's License in Elementary Education and also Classroom and Vocal Music. I have taught in a variety of classroom and private settings. I currently teach classroom music and art in an elementary school for grades K-5. For over 20 years I have owned and taught in my private Piano and Flute Studio for students ages 3-75+.
3) I believe every student has the potential to thrive and grow in a supportive and creative learning environment. Therefore, I teach with a focus on each and every student. I prepare my students to embrace their skills in a variety of subjects for life long learning.
4) Something fun about me is that I am a twin! I have an identical twin sister and we are just alike! Our favorite hobby is to design and create gingerbread creations! One of my favorite gingerbread scenes that I created was an edible Cinderella's Castle!
