This class is for all students that may be beginners or already have some knowledge of ASL and would like to keep up with their skills and become fluent. We will have weekly club meetings and each week there will be fun engaging new topics, themes, and Deaf cultural notes. Families are encouraged to enroll at any time or stop the class whenever needed. Classes will meet up for 30 each week and are ongoing classes until the student is withdrawn from the course. Objectives: 1. Students will be able to fingerspell the manual alphabet by memory. 2. Students will be able to fingerspell their names. 3. Students will be able to sign a few essential words. 4. Students will know how to sign several vocabulary words
I am an Educational Interpreter and Tutor and I have been working in the school districts for over 20 years with children that are profoundly deaf or hard of hearing students from PreK-12 grades. I have Deaf family members and a love for the language.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I will be using outside websites such as Google and Youtube to assist in learning, playing interactive games, and tools to help manage slide show presentations, flashcards, videos, and quiz games.
