Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 1
In this ongoing class, students will become wizards at sight words. We will be using a slideshow to see the words and motions to help us remember them. We will also do several other fun activities to help us learn our sight words. Students will be expected to repeat the words as well as engage in spelling them and acting them out. We will get silly and practice saying the words in different voices and even play games to practice our sight word knowledge. Basic sight words are a huge help to emergent readers. I want students to have fun while they learn such a valuable tool.

Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to visit my virtual classroom. I am a certified teacher offering classes in Spanish, English as a Second Language, Reading, and elementary school subjects and crochet. If you would like me to work with your child, please don't hesitate to reach out! I look forward to meeting you and your child.

When I was in high school, I had an opportunity to internship at an elementary school and from that moment I fell in love with education. I went on to get my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and have been teaching ever since. I started out in the regular elementary classroom and then had opportunities to teach Spanish, Reading and English as a Second Language.

I love helping children grow as learners. It gives me great joy to see them learn and achieve their goals. There is nothing better than working with a struggling reader and hearing them say "I can read this!" I believe that children learn best when they are having fun, and feel safe. It is my goal to make each child feel this way. I want them to know that they matter to me.

I was born in Venezuela and moved to the states at the age of 10. This has helped me connect with my ESL students in the past because I understand what they are going through. In Venezuela they speak Spanish, which is why I feel comfortable teaching Spanish to young learners. I have 3 kids and I decided to work from home so that I could enjoy as much of my time with them as possible. Time flies and I want to continue working in education and encouraging children to find a love of learning.
