COUPON CODE FOR HALF OFF FIRST CLASS: BJ23SENTENCES5 *I will always teach below the minimum number of learners at the beginning of a class! After a few weeks, if there are still not enough enrollments, I will give at least one or two weeks' notice to anyone enrolled before ending the class. :) Join me for a reading class with sight word practice! In this ongoing class, students will learn three new sight words each week and use that knowledge to read sentences with those sight words. We will start by learning and practicing each sight word through reading, writing, repetition, and movement. We will use our mastery of these new words to read sentences together as a class! Not all words included in our sentences will be these sight words. Learners will use knowledge of letters and sound to decode other words included in our sentences. Students will be reminded of and guided through sounding out each word, one sound at a time. Digraphs, blends, vowel teams, and other reading strategies will be taught and reviewed as they are encountered in our reading each week. Students in this class should have prior knowledge and confidence in identifying and using letters and sounds and be ready to apply that knowledge further. Although we will learn specific sight words each week, I am a flexible teacher and love to add extra tips and tricks as we encounter/discuss them. Sight words not included in the lesson but included in a sentence that we read may be briefly taught as we encounter it in our reading! I love to have fun and allow my classes to be student-led at times, so each class may be a little different. It follows the same format, with the same sight words taught as this class, but we also add spelling/writing practice and learn to write words and complete sentences!
Learning Goals
Learners will leave with knowledge of new sight words and practice in reading those in sentences as well as strategies to decode other words in reading.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Since this is a class for young learners, I just ask that a parent or guardian be around (within hearing distance) to help if/when needed (example: if technical issues arise and the student needs help in order to hear/speak/participate). Thank you for your support!
Supply List
For the full experience, students should have something readily available to write with (ex: paper and pencil/pen/crayon, whiteboard and dry-erase marker, magic doodle board, etc.) to participate in the sight word portion of the class, since we will be writing each sight word. However, I welcome all learners! Students can still benefit from the content of this class with or without writing tools.
