This is a flight themed literacy class for beginning readers. The students will learn to read simple instructions that contain the sight words, "then" "after" "take" and "open". They will follow the instructions to make planes and spinners out of paper. We will discuss what makes an object fly well. After they have made and flown their creations, they will write and draw about the experience. Students will have an opportunity to share their drawing and writing with the other members of...
Students will learn to to read and write the sight words from the lesson. They will learn to read and follow simple written directions.
1 file available upon enrollmentStudents will need copy paper for folding 2-4 airplanes. They will need scissors. They will also need paper and pencil to write and draw about their creation. They may choose to print out the Science Journal that we use for all the Sight Word Science classes but the journal is optional. Markers, crayons or colored pencils for coloring their illustrations are also optional.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
