Teacher Elsa will be taking over to help young princes and princesses master their sight words. Elsa uses a multi sensory, phonological approach to teaching each sight word. Class will open with Teacher Elsa greating each student, and introducing the two to three words we will focus on that week. Teacher Elsa will review a song with hand motions before we all dance together to the new sight words. Next, Teacher Elsa will guide students in counting sounds in each sight word and writing sound lines to match letters to from the sight word. Students will be taught to vocalize sounds as they write to solidify their new learning. This process will be excellent for helping students retain their new sight words, but more importantly they will be building their phonemic awareness and preparing to read with more ease. As an ongoing class the lessons do not build upon one another your student is welcomed to drop in and stay for one week or stay enrolled for many months. Students should know their letters, and sounds to get the most out of this class.
